1. Experience
  2. Passiv Haus

Sara Darwin co-founded Phi   (Passivhaus International ) with Claire Jamieson in 2012 to promote Passivhaus as a design ethos.

Claire and Sara studied Architecture & Environmental Design together at Nottingham University.  Subsequently qualifying as British Architects, registered with the ARB, they have practised architecture in the UK for the last 20 years. Sharing an enthusiasm for modern residential design with sustainable solutions, they are qualified as Certified Passivhaus Designers through the Building Research Establishment Passivhaus Designer Course.

Phi reflects their design philosophy with ‘smart’ architecture, sustainable and environmentally responsible design, combined with the application of Phi Φ, the golden section, to create beautiful proportions in design. Phi is committed to cost efficient design and construction culminating in highly energy efficient solutions.

Sara Darwin has formed phi architects in the Nortwest to build upon her background of low energy design with the emphasis on achieving the Passivhaus standard for construction. Sara specialises in low energy residential architecture and education buildings with an emphasis on designing for Special Educational Needs.
